This week, our history classes focused on the time where the Israelites were wandering in the wilderness, waiting for their time to enter the Promised Land. The Dialectic/Rhetoric class made models of the Ten Commandments' tablets out of foam board. They turned out great! The Upper Grammar class started a two week project--they are going to make paper models of the Tabernacle that God instructed the Israelites to make for the purpose of worshipping and sacrificing to Him. The Lower Grammar class learned about the High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. They made sweet Rosh Hashanah cards and also enjoyed eating apples and honey and Challah bread--treats that Jews would eat in celebration of the New Year. The Five in a Row class read the book, "Daniel's Duck." Quiet little Daniel is hurt when people laugh at his wood carving, but he learns that he has a special gift in making people happy! The kids then made adorable little picture books!
