Civil War in the Desert Field Trip

Eight of our eleven fabulous families (plus a fabulous family who was with our co-op last year!) headed down to Picacho Peak on the morning of Sunday, March 17 for a Civil War reenactment.  There was one Civil War skirmish that took place in Arizona, and it was near Picacho Peak.  During the Civil War in the Desert weekend, reenactors from all over the country gather and put on a show!  They reenact the skirmish that took place at Picacho as well as two New Mexico battles:  Glorieta and Val Verde.  In addition, both Union and Confederate camps are set up, and guests are welcome to tour the camps, asking question to the very knowledgeable reenactors.  It was a beautiful, warm day and we all had a great time.  Everyone was surprised at how loud the cannons were!
