This week, our studies take us on a three week adventure through Africa. European countries were colonizing large sections of northern and eastern Africa during the last 25 years of the 19th century. And it's that part of Africa that we focused on this week as we studied the people, politics, geography and culture of Northern Africa. The Dialectic Class will be working on two projects during this three week study and they began both of them this week. First, they are putting together prayer journals, highlighting unreached people groups in Africa. And, second, they are making display boards about three topics or countries relating to Africa. The Upper and Lower Grammar classes both made Adinkra cloth. This is a traditional printed cloth from Ghana made to tell stories or for religious ceremonies. The kids made their own stamps and printed the cloth with black paint. The Five in a Row class read the story, "Desert Song". It's a book that teaches kids about the changes that happen in the desert at night when so many creatures come out! The kids then made adorable paper bats!
