Co-op in Review: November 30, 2017

Unconditional Surrender!  After the Allied invasion of France, Hitler finally surrenders.  But, the war is not over.  Japan is still fighting.  It takes something extraordinary to force the Japanese to surrender.  A new kind of weapon.  A weapon that new president, Harry S. Truman, doesn't even know anything about when he takes office after the sudden and unexpected death of Franklin Roosevelt.  It's the atomic bomb.  And, it's more destructive than we can imagine.  We drop two of the bombs on Japan.  They are forced to surrender.  The war is officially over, on both fronts.  Our troops can come home.  The world can start to heal and rebuild.   The Lower Grammar class made authentic looking gas masks.  The Upper Grammar kids continued to work on props for their Fireside Chat play.  And, the Dialectic kids celebrated the end of the war by planting victory gardens.  The Five in a  Row class read the book, "We're Going on a Bear Hunt."  They had a great time going on their own bear hunt!
