Our journeys continue, and this week, we are studying Korea! The older classes focused their studies on the conflict in Korea, which led to American military involvement and a divided Korea that still remains today. They learned about Harry Truman, the president who led our nation through the Korean War. They also learned about the Red Scare, the idea that communists were dangerous and those among us needed to be stopped. The younger kids learned about the culture and people of Korea. The Lower Grammar class made awesome Korean dragon hand puppets! The Upper Grammar class made beautiful yet frightening masks. And, the Dialectic class worked on a scroll project. The Five in a Row class read the book, "Katy and the Big Snow." Katy is a tractor who pushes a snow plow in the winter, but usually doesn't see much snow--until this winter! The kids then made an adorable snow plow craft!
