Co-op in Review: February 16, 2017

This week, our history students all studied the end of the American Civil War.   The kids learned about the final battles, and the eventual surrender of Confederate General Robert E. Lee to Union General Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox Courthouse, Virginia on April 9, 1965.  This sad period in American history was made even more heartbreaking due to the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, which occurred less than a week after the surrender.  A country that needed to heal, was more broken than ever before.   Our Five in a Row class read the book, "A Visitor for Bear."  In this story, a cranky bear is sure he doesn't want visitors, but his new mouse friend just won't go away!
