Co-op in Review: March 2, 2017

As the Transcontinental Railroad prompted many Americans to move westward, tensions soon developed between the white settlers and the Native Americans.  And, these tension soon led to battles and these battles soon led to wars.  These wars became known as the Plains Indian Wars.  And, they did not end well for the Natives, who were by in large slaughtered or forcibly relocated, again.  Our Upper Grammar class and Dialectic class both made Plains Indian villages.  The younger kids made theirs out of paper and craft supplies, while the Dialectic class made completely edible villages.  The Rhetoric kids played a fun review game, in addition to discussing the presidency of Ulysses S. Grant and the Plains Indian Wars.  The Five in a Row class read the book, "How Will We Get to the Beach?"  In this book, Roxanne wants to go to the beach with all of her favorite things, including her precious turtle, but each time she tries to get there, she has to leave something behind!  The kids then made a cute turtle craft and played beach games!
