Co-op in Review: August 3, 2017 (First Day of Co-op, 2017-2018)

We're back!  Tapestry of the Desert Co-op celebrated the start of its 10th year on August 3, 2017.  We have grown from just four families and 10 students back in 2008 to 15 families this year and 47 kids!  This year, we have 8 students in Five in a Row, 9 kids in Lower Grammar, 17 kids in Upper Grammar and 13 in our oldest class, Dialectic.  This year, we will start our studies with the turn of the 20th century and end the year with the first years of the 21st century.   It will be a century of strife and invention, of human achievement and destruction.  This week, we start with some inventions that would shape the century.    Our students studied the Wright Brother's and their achievements with human flight, and Henry Ford, who put the world on wheels.  Our older kids read about Teddy Roosevelt and Albert Einstein.  The Five in a Row class started the year by reading and doing activities about the book, "Angus Lost."  It's going to be a great year.  We will learn a lot and do many exciting things.  But, above all, may this year be one where we learn more about His Story!
